Xerox is an American corporation founded in 1906 in Rochester (New York), and today employs over 130,000 people and generates 22 billion dollars in annual turnover across as many as 180 global markets.
Xerox is best known for its laser printers and photocopying devices. It can be said that Xerox invented photocopying and laser printing, and became synonymous with that type of device.
Everything started in 1959 with the model Xerox 914 – the first commercially available photocopier in the world. The success was incredible; the Model 914 sold in millions of copies, and there wasn't an office that didn't have, or at least want, a Xerox 914. Thus Xerox 914 became the most successful single product of all time.
Many successful products followed: the first desktop printer, the first color photocopier, the first commercial fax machine, etc.
The company, thanks to its boldness and innovativeness, has grown into a global leader, as evidenced by over 12,000 active patents. Even today, Xerox has not abandoned its philosophy, investing around 560 million dollars annually in research and development.
